To actually change the world, we need to shift our focus from individual acts of kindness, to addressing the root driver of problems, our conquest for this is called systemic altruism. Systemic altruism is the idea that the most effective cause path of change is addressing the root cause of a problem rather than any symptoms.
Individual acts of kindness such as donating money to charity or volunteering at a local shelter are certainly important, but they are not enough to create lasting change. If we want to make a real difference in the world, we need to address the root causes of issues.
When really thinking about the world through this system of holes (problem drivers), and symptoms (proof of problems) it becomes quite obvious that unless we focus on Systemic Altruism, we risk the entire ship losing its course.
Its like if you have an infection, you can cover it up, or clean up the wound, but unless you get some antibiotics your body will go septic and die. This is systems thinking, that when parlayed into thinking about our own species, allows us to identify what those antibiotics may be, and focus on deploying real systemic change.
Advancements in tech have always done more good than bad, the world is so much better today. What it also does it opens up new gaping holes, they make it more glaringly obvious where we as an organism lack.
Systemic altruism involves looking at the bigger picture and working to change the systems and structures that perpetuate these problems. This is then a study of our culture, incentives, and systems that shape the way the world operates.
Of course, systemic change is not easy, and it requires a lot of effort and dedication. But if we want to create a better world for ourselves and future generations, it is the only real useful thing we can do.
So if you want to change the world, start by thinking about the bigger picture. Identify the root causes of the issues that matter to you and look for ways to create systemic change.
Together, we can build a more just, equitable, and sustainable world for all.
If we just solved the mindsets of the world, that would be enough. When trying to solve human problems, the simple act of empowering humanity itself truly is the answer.
We have PROBLEMS and PROBLEM DRIVERS.
Fighting the problems is like always trying to empty a boat filling with water rather than just plugging the hole.
Of course, in reality this is far far harder to do in practice.
The problem drivers are vast and large systemic problems that require movements to defeat.
